The total daily dose divided into 3 doses at mealtimes has been suggested as usual dosage. For patients taking high doses (more than 10 milligrams daily); the dose may be divided into 4 parts, to take 3 doses at mealtimes moreover the fourth at bedtime.
The drug may be taken either before meals or after meals.
Trihexiphenidyl Over Dosage
Trihexiphenidyl Overdosage may bring about delirium, agitation, hallucinations, disorientation, or psychotic episodes.
Side Effects
Some of the most common side effects caused by this drug are blurred vision; dilated pupils; constipation; dry mouth; lightheadedness; giddiness; loss of appetite; upset stomach; nausea; and vomiting. These side effects usually are likely to be mild. They possibly will fade away as your body adjusts to the medicine. If they continue, ask your doctor for help.
Drug Interaction
Use of this drug should be avoided with certain other drugs, as it may increase or decrease the effects of either. Some special drugs that must be informed to your doctor are amantadine (symmetrel), chlorpromazine (thorazine), amitriptyline (elavil), doxepin (sinequan) and haloperidol (haldol). If you need to take them, your doctor may advise dose adjustment.
